5.15 Demonstrate intentional, explict, systematic writing instruction as it relates to the ability to read written language.
Students in this class are not quite at writing multiple paragraphs, but they do try their best and have dramatically improved their writing ability through careful and constant practice. The Smart Board has become a great friend of mine during times of needing to model writing. I try to have students start the writing process by using a thinking map to organize their thoughts and ideas. This puts information in an order and allows the student to critical think. The artifacts include on this page show a circle map after the students read The Story of Ruby Bridges. The day after reading the story, students described Ruby Bridges in preparation for a writing piece of how she was courageous.
