The lesson plan on the right demonstrates how my lessons for the week flowed together each day and how the students had to recall what was learned the previous day in order to complete the assignment for the current day. I tried to start every lesson discussing the main concept or skill learned in previous days and built that days lesson on what the students already learned.
1b. Sequences lesson and concepts to ensure coherence and require prior knowledge.
1e. Use diagnostic student data to plan lessons.
1f. Develops learning experiences that require students to demonstrate a variety of applicable skills and competencies.
To ensure students reach mastery, my lessons plans are leveled based on the group's abilities. The lesson plan to the left shows how I differentiate instruction between the lower group and higher group.
One of my favorite formative assessments is an exit ticket. Using the exit allows me to see what students understood the lesson and what students more direct instruct. It's quick and private so students can be open.
The STAR testing is a great diagnostic tool to measure the growth of student's reading abilities. Students are arranged in groups according to their STAR score and then I was able to plan lessons around what the student needs to keep growing in reading.
To introduce the value of the coins, I taught the students a song that describes the coin and states the value of the coin. Students are more luckily to remember the details of the coin through the fun and catchy song.
